But the $6,000 in BNPL loans she'd racked up over roughly two years felt frivolous, she said, especially because they're planning to buy their first home. Many are seeking cover from high credit card interest rates. After trimming her discretionary spending and sticking to home-cooked meals, she said she's been able to whittle down her BNPL debt to about $1,200. Klarna said it had responsible spending limits for its users, whose average outstanding balance is $150, compared to the more than $6,000 for credit card users. Baird, for her part, acknowledged BNPL services can make inflation and high interest rates feel "easier" for those who can keep their shopping impulses under control.

A 2017 trend report from the global logistics company DHL found that augmented-reality headsets improved the productivity of warehouse pickers by up to 15%. The latest AR headsets, which look similar to conventional prescription eyewear, could extend productivity benefits across every aspect of logistics — and even beyond. But the AR headsets at the cutting edge of logistics and manufacturing are slimmer, lighter, and more durable than the Vision Pro or Quest. By Fabian HamacherPINGTUNG, Taiwan (Reuters) - Taiwan's air force showed off its armed-to-the-teeth submarine hunters and early warning and control aircraft on Tuesday, demonstrating how it keeps watch on the skies and waters around the Chinese-claimed island. Taiwan's air force, dwarfed by China's but well-armed with mostly U.S. equipment, has been at the front lines of responding to these missions and regularly scrambles to shadow and warn away Chinese aircraft and ships. On a defence ministry-organised media visit to the Pingtung air base in southern Taiwan, the air force displayed its Lockheed Martin P-3C Orion anti-submarine aircraft and Northrop Grumman-built E-2K Hawkeye early warning and control aircraft. The air force also conducted flybys with one of their E-2K Hawkeye aircraft. Taiwan has reported Chinese warships and warplanes frequently passing through the Bashi Channel.

Economists polled by Reuters see year-on-year inflation at 3.2% in December, but think core inflation likely fell to 3.8%, its lowest since mid-2021. "Still, bullion bulls would have no qualms restoring spot gold back above that psychologically important mark once markets get a firmer grasp on the Fed's policy pivot."

A pullback for stocks could be on the horizon after a unique technical signal was flashed, BTIG said. The Russell 2000 ended last week down 3.2%, while the Nasdaq 100 gained 2.9%. BTIG chief market technician Jonathan Krinsky pointed out there have been just seven other occasions since 1985 that such a divergence has been seen. Eight weeks following this signal flashing, the Nasdaq 100 and Russell 2000 have lost 4.1% and 6.7%, respectively, on a median basis. To be sure, it was last seen on May 2 — and the Nasdaq 100 and Russell 2000 were up 13.9% and 8.6%, respectively, eight weeks after.

These statistics reveal a simple fact about affirmative action in higher education: It mattered very little for the majority of American college students. But because affirmative action only opened a tiny window of access to America’s most elite institutions, the ruling will make little difference for most college students.

A New Yorker thought she found her "dream couch" on the side of the road, so she brought it home. Her video documenting the find garnered over 30 million views as users weighed in on the couch worth up to $8,000. While some praised Joy for the find, others raised concerns of bed bugs and its authenticity. Others were more concerned about the risk of bed bugs and mold after Joy said the couch had been rained on when she found it. "Getting rid of bed bugs can cost thousands of dollars."
